Collecting accurate birth details
Find the date, time, and place recorded when you were born.
STEP 1
Check written records first
Look for a hospital record, birth certificate, or a family note written near the time of birth. A time recorded on the day is far more reliable than one recalled years later.
STEP 2
Note the exact place
Write down the town or city and country where you were born, not where your family lived afterward. The place sets the coordinates and time zone used to calculate the chart.
STEP 3
Do not fill gaps with guesses
If the time is missing or family members disagree, record what each source says and share all of it. Describing the uncertainty honestly is more helpful than choosing a time that sounds right.
Mention whether your recorded time is in local standard time or daylight saving time, if you know. Small details like this affect the calculated ascendant.
